The Impact of Global Warming on Marine Species

The impact of global warming on marine species

1.  Global warming means the increasing of average temperature in the atmosphere and oceans gradually mainly because of human activities. The earth’s atmosphere acted like a greenhouse and it reflects an amount of sun’s energy reflected by earth’s surface back to the earth. This process keeps the average warm of the atmosphere otherwise atmosphere would have been colder and there won’t be a suitable environment in earth for the existing living beings. For an example if we look back to the history there is an incident of two massive volcanoes erupted and dust released with explosion had enveloped the earth’s atmosphere and no sun light could penetrate to earth therefore the sun’s energy could not reachable to earth. Subsequently atmosphere began to cold and gradually living beings started to dead from plants to animals and humans as well. After that with falling of speeded dust to earth surface, with lapse of time, sun rays began to reach earth and it became worm to its average level. Once again the environment became suitable for living.

2.    With the advancement of technology human population grew up gradually and the requirements of them could not full filled by manual industries. As result machines were introduced to industries and fossil fuel was burnt to generate power for the machines and the same time deforestation was increased seeking lands for human states. The emission of greenhouse gas increased and those gases gathered in atmosphere especially the carbon dioxide. As ultimate result of all those activities the greenhouse effect increased beyond its average level and earth began to warm than at any previous time in history. This is known as artificial greenhouse effect. It led word to many disasters like climate changes, extinction of rare fauna and flora species, changed wind patterns and unpredictable calamities like storms occurred, melting down of glassier in poles and acidification of sea water etc. Today we are going to see how global warming affect on marine species.

3.    As a result of over existing of carbon dioxide in atmosphere it leads carbon dioxide to dissolve in rainwater and rain water becomes more acidic and causes acid rains. Finally the acidity of sea water increases and it will be unsuitable for many aquatic living beings. Especially corals are very sensitive to acid and they will extinct as well as creatures made their cells of calcium carbonate will die. Many fishes will migrate to other regions from their original settlements. Finally bio diversity at sea will be lost. Fish population of oceans grow down and a main food source of humans will affect. With change of chemical composition of sea water the oceans would become poisonous to whole living beings. It is expected that Australia’s Great Barrier Reef will be dead 30 years later.

4.    The melting down of artic ice will rise up mean sea levels and low land countries will be submerged in future. World will lost her most sensitive lagoons and homes for a thousand numbers of marine species. As an example polar bears will lose their homes lands sooner.

5.    Conservation of ocean lives will not be a proper solution. There should be rules to control the emission of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases and deforestation should be stopped. The relevant authorities around the world should wake up to control this destruction earlier.
